Zeigler Log House
  • Early 19th Century: Rear section of the house erected as a log structure, most likely by David Zeigler
    (See Zeigler Grist Mill)
  • 1835: Zeigler married his wife Eleanor Hyatt; they raised 10 children in the house
  • 1850 census: Zeigler listed as an innkeeper
  • Mid-19th century: Greek revival/Italianate front section of the house added
  • The property also contains a frame bank barn and concrete-block dairy barn
  • Staff from the MNCPPC recently moved their offices into the structure which will be open for periodic public tours and feature a permanent exhibit about the Zeigler family, their farming and milling activities
  • House is listed on the Master Plan for Historic Preservation in Montgomery County
