History
King's Distillery
- 1865 (or possibly earlier): Site of a sawmill and distillery owned, operated by Luther Green King
- 1907: Distillery burned down
- 1971: Last warehouse on the property torn down
- Whiskey was distilled from locally grown rye and shipped to Baltimore for bottling
- This was the only whiskey distilling operation in Montgomery County
- The sign in the photo to the right is no longer standing
- There is a small area where you can pull your car off Burnt Hill Road, park and walk around the former distillery site but the area is quite heavily overgrown
