About Friends of Little Bennett Park

The Friends of Little Bennett Park are a group of volunteers who love Montgomery County's largest, most pristine and natural public park. We created our organization in November 2006 as the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission sought public comment on its Master Plan for the Park.

Our mission is to support through volunteer and advocacy efforts the Park and its staff in programs, events and activities that:

  • Promote use of Little Bennett Regional Park in a manner that conserves and protects its natural beauty, resources and tranquility,
  • Steward the Park's land, water, wildlife, vegetative and cultural resources while informing and educating the public about them, and
  • Monitor, protect and help maintain the Park's extensive network of trails.

The best way to learn more about us is to simply navigate around this website. Under the button "Volunteer Opportunities," for example, you can get a good idea of the types of things we are doing or would like to do in the future. We are particularly interested in developing relationships with other organizations whose members regularly use the Park

In addition to our volunteer projects, we usually meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 7pm at the Park's Hawks Reach Activity Center in the campground area. Visitors are always welcome.

There is no cost to join our group, and we do not charge dues.

If you join Friends of Little Bennett Park, you can add your name to our Yahoo group email list which we use to keep everyone up-to-date on group activities as well as developments in the Park.
